8th Grade Enrichment
This program serves to support our 8th Grade students in their quest
to continue their education outside of the Ravenswood School District.
We help with the processes that are involved in securing admission to
a high school that best fits their needs. Our intent is to help bridge
the gap between middle and high school and to help make their transition
more fluent. Students will participate in enrichment activities that center
around leadership, team building, environmental education and cultural
competency. Additionally, students will receive trainings in resume writing,
interviewing skills and will be given the forum to discuss topics that
are specifically relevant to them. Permission Slips will be made available
or you can
download them from here.

High School

The New Perspectives High School Program was designed to assist students
in successfully navigating their tenure in high school. In doing this,
the program provides: academic motivation, personal/group mentoring, recreation,
leadership opportunities, college investigation materials, and cultural
competency training. Additionally, students will be taken on field trips
outside of East Palo Alto for hands on exposure. This Program also provides
students with a strong adult, and peer network.
The New Perspectives High
School Program meets every Thursday from 7 – 8:30 pm. Permission Slips will be made available or you can
download them
from here.
High School Leadership Program:
This program is designed to provide high school youth with training and resources to
empower them in leadership roles. As leaders, these youth have the opportunity to
attend conferences, participate in job site tours, work with staff to plan special events
and service-learning projects, and be mentors to their peers and younger youth in the
community. In addition, these youth will regularly assist with the goals setting and
feedback for New Perspectives. The High School Leadership Program meets every
Monday from 7-8:30pm.

Youth in Philanthropy
This unique program trains young people in the practices of philanthropy
and community activism, and provides the seed money for the projects.
Working with community-based organizations, YIP teaches young grant makers,
aged 13 - 18, how to create grant guidelines and applications, solicit
participation from groups and individuals, interview those applying for
grants, and decide which projects to fund. Permission Slips will be made available or you can
download them
from here.
