Bettie Hodges
Bettie Hodges is the President of Hodges Consulting Group, a consultancy firm that provides planning, development, marketing, documentation and evaluation services to non-profit and philanthropic organizations engaged in community economic development, comprehensive community initiatives, responsible fatherhood, and other efforts that empower communities of color.
Formerly a teacher and librarian, Ms. Hodges received her undergraduate and graduate education from the University of California, Berkeley. She has been a Community Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; a Congressional Black Caucus Fellow in Washington, D.C.; editor of the Congressional Black Caucus magazine, Point of View; staff to the Employment and Housing Subcommittee of Government Operations chaired by Congressman Barney Frank; and founder and Executive Director of the Marin City Community Development Corporation, a CDC in a small African-American community near San Francisco.
A long-time community activist and organizer, Ms. Hodges has been engaged in the philanthropic sector for over 15 years including the Association for Black Foundation Executives, Bay Area Blacks in Philanthropy, Neighborhood Funders Group, Self-Development of People Committee of the United Presbyterian Church and the Advisory Board of the Howard Thurman Educational Trust. Additionally, Ms. Hodges has been a promoter of philanthropy in local Black communities and is a founder and supporter of several new charities including the William L. Bullock Scholarship Fund, Josie M. King Fund and Eleanor Engram Ministries.
Involved in the faith community and church affairs, Ms. Hodges is a member of Cornerstone Community Church of God in Christ. Her interests and passions are youth leadership development, working with incarcerated persons and their families, Black agenda building, history, baseball, and prayer.
