New Police Chief Takes the Oath and Gets to Work
"Letter to the Community" sent to residents
"Chat with the Chief" Saturday, June 25th in City Hall from 3:30 to 5:30 PM
Los residentes estan invitados"para charlar
con el jefe" este sábado Junio 25, 2005"I believe the first steps necessary to restore public trust and confidence are openness and communication."
So states new East Palo Alto Police Chief Ron Davis in a "Letter to the Community" sent out this week. In the letter the new Chief describes immediate steps he has taken to respond to the recent increase in violence. He goes on to describe strategic law enforcement steps he plans to take in the months to come.
However, Chief Davis puts law enforcement in a broader context when he says, "For long-term crime and violence reduction to occur, the police must work in partnership with the community to identify and solve problems."
For that to occur, the Department must restore public trust and confidence through open communication with residents.
As a step towards that goal, Chief Davis will host the first "Chat with the Chief" this Saturday, June 25th from 3:30 to 5:30 PM in the Community Room/Council chambers on the first floor of East Palo Alto City Hall at 2415 University Avenue.
The meeting is planned as the first in a series of monthly "chats" for community members to "talk with him directly and share their concerns, ideas, feedback or just a cup of coffee."
Refreshments will be provided.
