City of East Palo AltoThe City of East Palo Alto’s Redevelopment Agency is ensuring through its First Source Hiring Program that local residents have the best advantage for the new jobs created by the Four Seasons Hotel.
“The City’s Redevelopment Agency is working closely with the Four Seasons Hotel to ensure that at least 30% of its work force comes from East Palo Alto.” Said Marie McKenzie, East Palo Alto’s First Source Hiring Program Manager. “Right now, the hotel is recruiting and hiring managers and supervisors. Residents with management or supervisory experience in the hospitality industry are encouraged to apply at East Palo Alto’s City Hall, 2415 University Avenue, 2nd floor, where they can submit a completed Resident Intake/First Source Hiring Application together with their resume.” (You can also click to open the Resident Intake/First Source Hiring Application ).
For over one year, OICW (a community non-profit training and employment agency) has been working with the City’s Redevelopment Agency to design classes that will prepare East Palo Alto residents for the new jobs created in the City’s redevelopment areas. OICW has also been providing ESL (English as a second language) and Resume Builder classes to help East Palo Alto residents improve their employment skills. Cañada College and the Employment Development Department are two other partners that have contributed significantly to the City’s First Source Hiring Program.

Lawrence King, Job Developer at OICW reports ESL classes have been filled both day and night, additional classes are now being offered.
