Bused Out & What to Do When I Get Home Dilemma

The Youth Management Teen Council is currently asking how to go about creating a home base for our high school students at the end of their long and sometimes hard school day that provides:

 Young people opportunities to network with other teens within their community.

 Peer Councelling.

 Sharing experiences.

 Creating the social environment they miss from after school programs due to being bused home at the end of the day.

 To support the creation of a positive youth culture in the City of East Palo that honors self-reliance, respectful relations between the sexes, and service to others.

 Provide informational, recreational and academic services and programs to teens;

 establish and maintain contacts with schools and other agencies that serve youth to promote and enhance service to youth;

 provide creative, caring and well-trained staff who advocate and mediate on behalf of youth both within and outside the traditional settings

We are currently examining solutions and expanding our collaborative network to work with the Sequoia Unified School District to address these issues. We welcome you to visit the YMTC web page to learn more in the upcoming months and welcome your input as we find solutions to create a place for our children to come home and download after a long day at school.
