Stanford Community Law Clinic (SCLC)
The Stanford Community Law Clinic (SCLC) trains Stanford law students
to become highly qualified public interest attorneys by serving individuals
and communities in need through legal representation, advice, and education.
Clinic attorneys train and supervise law students as they use their skills
and legal knowledge to educate, counsel, and represent clients in a variety
of areas of civil law, including housing matters and eviction defense,
government benefits advocacy, worker's rights and other employment issues,
guardianships, and consumer issues. SCLC operates in partnership with
the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County which allows the clinic to serve
a large number of clients. The clinic's services are offered free of charge
to low- income residents of Stanford's neighboring communities, including
East Palo Alto, East Menlo Park, and Redwood City.
