New Perspectives

Since 1990, New Perspectives-East Palo Alto has provided a system of intense prevention and intervention to middle and high school students in the Ravenswood City School District of East Palo Alto. New Perspectives assists students with the productive management of their lives. Students involved in the program are presented with the necessary tools for affecting and maintaining positive academic, social and family environments. Programs:
After-school Recreation
New Perspectives provide on campus, after school recreation services at several school sites in the Ravenswood School District. These services are provided to 5th - 8th grade students with parental permission.

8th Grade Enrichment
This program serves to support our 8th Grade students in their quest to continue their education outside of the Ravenswood School District. We help with the processes that are involved in securing admission to a high school that best fits their needs. Our intent is to help bridge the gap between middle and high school and to help make their transition more fluent.

High School
The New Perspectives High School Program was designed to assist students in successfully navigating their tenure in high school. In doing this, the program provides: academic motivation, personal/group mentoring, recreation, leadership opportunities, college investigation materials, and cultural competency training.

Youth in Philanthropy
Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) is a partnership between New Perspectives and the Community Foundation of Silicon Valley. This unique program trains young people in the practices of philanthropy and community activism, and provides the seed money for the projects.
