Like news, the Community Voices section provides relevant and necessary information to the EPA community. This space is specifically designed to give community members who are interested in reporting what is happening in their local community a space to speak up. This space is also designed to support people who want to submit poetry or creative writing. Examples on what should go here are reports on block club meetings, city happenings, legislation that will effects homeowners, special upcoming events, community success stories, personal stories, poetry etc...
This is a brief overview of how to submit an article or written piece to the Community Voices section of epa.net.
Begin by clicking the link on the main page navigation bar marked "Community Voices".
Then click the category that best fits your post.
You will see a list of current stories.
Below these stories, there will be a link marked "Submit a news item".
Clicking this link will take you to the area for posting your content.
Type the title of your post in the first box marked "Title".
Then, you are ready to enter your message in the box marked body.
Type your message in plain text or basic html. (see HTML Instructions).
If you included html, change the text "format" below the body text box to html before selecting the "Preview" button. (i.e. The text is formatted asPlain TextHTML)
Click the "Preview" button. If the post looks ok, click the "Confirm" button at the bottom.
If the message does not look correct, click the back button at the top of your browser and edit the message. Error messages may appear if the html is not correct or you use HTML that is not supported. These errors will need to be corrected before the post will be complete. Be sure to check your HTML Tags. Posting in plain text may cause text to display off the screen and to the right. We recommend using a minimum of the paragraph tag (<P> your paragraph </P>) to make sure your text displays properly. Then repeat steps 10 and 11 until the message looks correct. You are done!
