The single comfort I have had for this persistent feeling was that I was only 10-years-old at the time and how could I have known she would be leaving so soon? Click to read more...		EPA resident takes a journey through local government By Rosemary Burgess On June 30, 2004, I completed my one-year term as a juror for the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury. In retrospect it has been a year of many hours spent in meetings, interviews and research, with additional hours preparing reports. Although being a juror required a high level of time and energy, it was highly informative and very rewarding. The Civil Grand Jury is comprised of 19 members selected by ballot from a pool of applicants. The purpose of the Grand Jury is to monitor and examine the performance of local government. All kinds of kid activities are planned, including a sack race and balloon relay. There will also be a puppet show, a magician, and a dance troupe performing. Community organizations will have booths with special activitie s and rewards. "It's a day to honor kids," says Jennifer Jackson, the event organizer.
