A visit to my parents homeland
By Armando Arroyo
Not too long ago I decided to take a trip to the state of Michoacan
to gain some awareness about my parents' origins. Growing up I have
always had nostalgic dreams of someday returning to Michoacan,
known throughout Mexico for its landscape of lakes and mountains.
Mexico offers a plethora of fascinating cultural beauty.

County seeks resident input for new provider selection
By Regina Thompson
Staff Coordinator for One East Palo Alto
San Mateo County has had a long standing commitment to support underserved

and the Peninsula Community Foundation, convened a community meeting on Saturday,
December 11th, to seek input on future delivery of core emergency services
in East Palo Alto. Over 100 residents turned out to speak their minds.

Is it because his life was ended at 39 years of age? Do we remember
Dr. King because of the many times he went to jail, or do we remember
his non-violent doctrine of passive resistance?
As an African American, I believe that there is not just one reason to remember Dr. King.

With the closing of Ravenswood, East Palo Alto's only high school, in 1976,
students from East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park were then bused to
high schools in other communities as far away as Belmont.
In the Fall of 1996, Eastside College Preparatory School was founded
